Terry Wickstrom Outdoors Hour 2: 11/25/17

Nate Zelinsky of Tightline Outdoors joins the show to talk ice fishing in the area. Nate says we are right on schedule in the high country, and there are a variety of options right now, especially when it comes to catching small-mouth bass. Nate talks about what happens when you chase the ice & conditions, and Terry mentions how the fish metabolism stays active even in the colder weather. Also, Nate says shallow fish can be even more aggressive. Ice fishing legend Mr. Ice Fisherman Dave Genz joins the show to talk about ice fishing trends and new products. Dave mentions how everything you take out on the ice becomes an anchor, and Terry brings up the importance of electronics. Dave discusses the most critical mistakes that ice fisherman make, including going out too late or quitting too soon because it’s cold. Also, plastics are catching on lately, Dave says the positioning of the plastics is crucial, and the little things make the difference. Ronny Castiglioni of Fishful Thinker joins the show to talk about boat season winding down, and triggering reaction strikes late in the year. Also, Ronny talks spoons, blades, jerkbaits & lipless cranks. Ronny talks about the limited boating hours on Horsetooth before they close the lake on Dec. 2nd, and says there is still lots of fishing to be done. Also, why the number of big trout left at Horsetooth has gone down & why the small-mouth bite is working right now.
