Terry Wickstrom Outdoors Hour 1: 11/25/17

Kirk Bien of Kirk's Fly Shop joins the show to talk about the upcoming open house on December 9th, and to give a fishing update on the area. Some of the most prominent anglers in Colorado including Rick Takahashi will be at the open house to sign books & meet fans. Kirk says the inlet to the lake is fishing well, and pheasant tails are still working. Also, Kirk says you can get up to 50% off any item at Kirk’s Fly Shop just by mentioning Terry Wickstrom Outdoors, and Terry mentions all the insight the celebrity guests at the open house will have. Park Manager at Rifle Falls Matt Schuler joins the show to talk about ice fishing opportunities. Matt says camping is open year-round, and Terry says the species of fish lend themselves to ice fishing well. Matt says the crappie & perch population are a big draw for anglers, and Terry says the heavily stocked trout are cooperative through the ice. Also, Matt thinks the shore fishing is working well right now if you're trying to catch trout. Seasonal Patrol Officer at Lake Pueblo State Park Doug Pachelli joins the show to talk about fly selection on tailwaters. Doug says Pueblo rarely freezes, and waters are 10’ higher than they were last year. Terry asks Doug what makes for a healthy fishery, and Doug says the walleye, bass & wiper fishing have been great. Doug & Terry talk about the flow of warmer water at the base of the dam, and how Pueblo has improved the habitat for trout. Colleen Freeman of Sportsman's Warehouse joins the show to talk about gift ideas, GPS devices, knives and optics. Terry asks Colleen about the price range for a new knife, and Colleen points out that it depends what you’re using your knife for. Also, Terry wants to know the perfect stocking stuffer for your family anglers during the holidays.
