Terry Wickstrom Outdoors Hour 2: 11/4/17

Matt Endsley joins the show to talk cold water walleye. Matt says you can even catch crappie in cold water environments, and look at shifting to jigging raps & blade-baits when pulling away from the bank into deeper water. Terry asks about the early & late bite, and what colors work for perch & shad. Matt says cold water periods of fall & spring are when you catch the biggest fish, and now is the time to move shallow. Also, Chatfield is currently good for walleye, Cherry Creek is working for jerk baits, and perch are shallow right now at Aurora. Brad gives an update on opportunities for duck & goose hunting in the area. Brad says Colorado currently has fantastic opportunities, and his favorite part is calling the birds in. River hunting is just starting to get good, and Brad likes to get there early and walk up & down the river to find the best spot where birds will gather. Geese will be on farmland Terry notes, and Brad talks leased opportunities to get on private ground to hunt geese. Also, recommendations for those just starting out, including how many decoys to use & learning how to call birds in. JR Pierce joins the show to talk turkey shoot, pheasant & quail hunting and concealed carry. JR is excited about the annual Turkey Shoot on Saturday, Nov 19th, and notes that the event is open to all ages & abilities. Terry mentions the skeet & wobble trap for rifles & pistols, and JR says there is no better place than Colorado Clays for concealed carry classes & information. Brad Peterson talks about GPS units to find spots for ice fishing without having to drill multiple holes. Terry says the usage of maps, GPS & depth finders is just as crucial to fishing as any other piece of equipment these days, and the downloadable software & maps can be helpful. Also, Brad mentions the best companies that make ice gear, and designs for women & youth as well.
