Terry Wickstrom Outdoors Hour 1: 6/10/17

Chad LaChance of Fishful Thinker joins the show to talk about Fishful Thinker Fish Fest coming up on June 25th, and the opportunity to learn how to tie knots & cast flys. Chad mentions the AirHead inflatable paddle boards, and the success you can have with simply a popper & a troll motor at Horsetooth. Also, locating a bait in muddy water & how to help a fish find your lure. Michelle Seubert of Barr Lake State Park joins the show to talk about what to do if you have a big motor on your boat. Wiper are currently available to catch from shore right now at Barr, and Michelle reminds Terry it's a great place for paddle boarding. Michelle highlights the archery & 3D range, as well as the trail all the way around the lake, picnic areas, and all sorts of bird species that can be seen. Also, Terry asks Michelle about the reduced boat launch hours & Ray Reeves of Adventure Camper stops by to say it all depends on the type of camping you want to do. Desiree Powell of Rifle Falls Hatchery joins the show to talk about the importance of a hatchery system to fishing in Colorado. Desiree says the hatchery can help with the fish getting larger, and determining where fish will go out in the future. Also, how long it takes to raise a 10" trout and what goes into the formula such as water temperature & pressure. Terry gives his Tackle Talk for the week on the Berkley Gulp! 1-inch pinched crawler & how to cast it more efficiently so the bait does not rip off like live bait tends to do. The crawler is scent impregnated & has intense flavor, and Terry mentions the waves will give it action. Also, Terry points out rigging the crawler below your bobber allows for casting among the weeds.
