Mile High Magazine 09/01/19 Extended Hands of Hope

Guest: Kristen Harness Founder and CEO of Extended Hands of Hope Extended Hands of Hope helps sex traffic survivors with housing, life skills and therapy.  They have a live in home/facility that houses survivors and teaches them life skills, has a counselor on staff in the house and helps them get caught up to their grade level in school.  Discussed the international, national, and Colorado’s own sex trafficking issues.  Sex Trafficking in CO is a huge problem with the DTC being one of the ‘hottest’ areas.  The average profile of the person buying underage children for sex in CO is a white male, age 40-45, married and with two children.  Discussed what legally sex trafficking is and the different faucets of it.  Also discussed their biggest fundraiser, Eat Up Denver – Sept. 28th – this is their 5th year.  Local chefs, survivor stories, silent and live auction.  Tickets available at extendedhandsofhope.org.  Also discussed the new cake business that is a for profit business that aids in job training and helping teach these women job skills.  https://extendedhandsofhope.org/fifth-annual-eatup-denver-benefit/
