Terry Wickstrom Outdoors Hour 2: 5/20/17

Nate Zelinsky of Tightline Outdoors joins the show with a special guest, huntress Randi Clark. Nate talks about 100-fish days at Pueblo and sticking to the Front Range, and asks Randi how she makes the boys look bad. Randi gives a female perspective on the sport, and the love of hunting. Drive & education are key, and Randi mentions the importance of getting women involved in the outdoors. Randi says she learned more about wildlife through hunting than in a classroom, and female mentors help for those intimidated by the male hunter or guide. Dan Swanson of Fishful Thinker joins the show to help Terry with this week's AS THE EXPERT on catching walleye from shore. Terry mentions when walleye are on the rocks spawning, and Dan mentions the shallow fish currently tend to be more aggressive. Transition areas on the east side of South Bay are highlighted, as well as key pieces of cover that will hold an edge. Dan mentions that deep access helps with comfort, and the wind stirs up the ecosystem. Also, tactics with crank baits & slip bobbers, and Carolina rigging a slow-death style with killer crawlers or leaches. Cory Kraft of Colorado Clays joins the show to talk about the Sunday, June 11th event for those who have never handled a shotgun, and the instructors that will be on site to walk you through the process. Also, sizing for a shotgun that fits & swings naturally, exposure for youth shooters and the recently started chapter for lady pistol shooters.
