(note to reader-This is not a joke. I am going to be talking Rockies baseball)

Jorge De La Rosa is done. Father Time has claimed another victim. We saw it with Peyton Manning. Now it’s happening to De La Rosa. He was throwing meatballs the other night in Boston.

I don’t take any glee in burying De La Rosa. This guy was the rare Rockies pitcher who didn’t whiz down his leg at the prospect of pitching at Coors Field. Between 2013-2015 he was 23-5 at Coors with an E.R.A. of about three and a half. That takes a certain amount of guts I admire.

I’m really turned off on Cargo right now. It’s not just the plummeting May numbers. He’s got a vibe about him that is just too nonchalant for my taste. I like this Rockies team in terms of some of the grit they show-led by the likes of a Nolan Arenado. Cargo? Just a little too breezy for my liking.

Speaking of grit. I was impressed with Eddie Butler the other night. He came out of the bullpen in long relief in what amounted to a between starts throwing session. But instead of pouting about it, he

actually gave the Rockies some quality innings out of the pen. That’s a team player right there leading by example that I’m sure was noted by the other guys.

Watching Trevor Story strike out four times in his Fenway Park debut. We can’t ever forget that for guys like Story getting a chance to play at a place like Fenway has to represent a certain “Holy S&)^t I’m playing in Fenway” moment that probably has them thinking like they’re nine years old again.

While the Rox have been scuffling on this road trip, the Giants have figured things out. SF has taken off and all of a sudden the Rox, who were tied with the Giants in the loss column about ten days ago, now find themselves a handful of games back. Suspected it would eventually happen, but was thankful for SF keeping things interesting in the NL West there for awhile.

Love Charlie Blackmon and how he’s back to .300 after being well below the Mendoza line early on. But he’s being under-utilized as a leadoff hitter. Matter of baseball taste but while I get the importance of having a lead off hitter who gets on base, I place more of a premium on the 3-4-5 guys who drive them in. Blackmon is too good of a hitter not to be used in more of a run producing spot in the line-up

Because of how important it is that he become a full fledged ace if the Rox are to ever have a chance of being legit – Jon Gray starts have now become must watch events

Talking Rockies. Feels pretty good, huh?
