Broncos injury update: Mike Boone returns to practice
Nov 30, 2022, 2:00 PM
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Running back Mike Boone practiced Wednesday as the Broncos began their preparations for this Sunday’s game in Baltimore.
It was Boone’s first practice work in over a month. He suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Oct. 23 loss against the New York Jets and missed the last four games. The Broncos officially designated Boone for return from injured reserve as practice began.
Should Denver activates Boone to the 53-player roster as expected, he would become the fifth activation from injured reserve this season, joining Michael Ojemudia, Greg Dulcich, Justin Simmons and Jacob Bobenmoyer. Teams can activate eight players from IR during a season, per recently-changed rules.
Seven Broncos on the 53-player roster did not practice Wednesday:
- LB Dakota Allen (hamstring)
- TE/FB Andrew Beck (hamstring)
- WR KJ Hamler (hamstring)
- DL Jonathan Harris (knee)
- WR Jerry Jeudy (ankle)
- DL Dre’Mont Jones (illness)
- CB K’Waun Williams (knee)
Jeudy and Williams have not practiced since being injured in Tennessee on Nov. 13. Beck played last Sunday, but missed the previous two games with a hamstring injury he incurred Nov. 10. Hamler’s last practice came on Nov. 9. Harris suffered his injury against Las Vegas on Nov. 20. Allen suffered his injury last Sunday in Charlotte.
Harris, Jeudy and Williams were seen leaving the Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse after working out during the portion of practice open to media. Joining them was edge rusher Randy Gregory, who has missed seven games after undergoing a knee scope.
Of Jeudy, Hackett said, “He’s been day-to-day ever since it happened. He’s just been working to get right.”
