Broncos injury update: Jeudy, Hamler sidelined again

Once again, the Broncos will play without three of their top four wide receivers.
Both Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler will miss Sunday’s game due to injuries suffered earlier this month. It will mark Hamler’s third-consecutive game missed due to a hamstring injury he suffered Nov. 9. Jeudy will sit out a second-straight game, but he missed all but one play of the Nov. 13 game at Tennessee when he suffered his ankle injury.
Both worked out on the north rehab field at UCHealth Training Center on Wednesday.
Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett said that Jeudy’s injury was not worse than it was thought to be. Jeudy has been considered “day-to-day” since the start of last week, but hasn’t practiced.
“It’s just the injury that he had,” Hackett said. “He’s working through and trying to get it back so that he can get out on the field.”
With Jeudy and Hamler inactive and Tim Patrick on injured reserve due to the torn ACL he suffered in training camp, Denver will lean on Courtland Sutton, Kendall Hinton, Jalen Virgil and Brandon Johnson. Denver will activate Johnson from the practice squad for a second-consecutive week, Hackett said.
DL Jonathan Harris and CB K’Waun Williams will also miss Sunday’s game with knee injuries suffered in the last two weeks. Neither practiced this week.
But the news was better for edge rusher Jacob Martin. He returned to practice Friday after sitting out work on Tuesday and Wednesday due to a knee injury suffered against the Raiders last Sunday. Martin is questionable for the Panthers game.
Also questionable is TE Andrew Beck. He returned to practice this week after suffering a hamstring injury on Nov. 10. Beck saw a limited workload this week.
Hackett also confirmed the Broncos will activate Devine Ozigbo from the practice squad to be the third running back Sunday. It is Ozigbo’s third practice-squad elevation this season, which means he has reached his limit. The Broncos will need to promote Ozigbo to the 53-player roster in order to use him again.
