ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Another week, another wave of Broncos injuries.
Already playing without Ronald Darby, Denver’s cornerback corps absorbed another blow Sunday with the loss of slot corner K’Waun Williams.
Williams is “week-to-week” and could land on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered Sunday. He will undergo an arthroscopic procedure. He had already been playing through a wrist injury that necessitated him playing with a cast. KUSA-Ch. 9’s Mike Klis reports that Williams will miss at least four weeks, which could land him on injured reserve.
Essang Bassey filled in for Williams on Sunday and is expected to continue in that role.
If Williams goes on injured reserve, he will become the 13th player and the seventh starter on IR.
MEANWHILE, ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE:
Right tackle Billy Turner is still being evaluated after suffering a knee injury in the second quarter Sunday. However, he is considered “week-to-week,” according to coach Nathaniel Hackett.
Turner missed the first five games of the season with a knee injury. He entered the lineup in the first half of the Week 6 game against Los Angeles and made the next three starts. Practice-squad member Quinn Bailey replaced Turner in the lineup Sunday.
“it wasn’t too big for him,” Hackett said of Bailey. “As the game went on, I thought he did a really good job.”
The news was better for center Graham Glasgow, who succumbed in the third quarter Sunday. His shoulder injury is not as serious as feared.
“We’re hoping [he’s] day-to-day,” Hackett said.
Luke Wattenberg replaced Glasgow, who himself is a fill-in for Lloyd Cushenberry.
ALSO OF NOTE:
- WR Jerry Jeudy will be “day-to-day” with what Hackett termed a “minor” ankle injury. Kendall Hinton replaced Jeudy after the injury, suffered on the Broncos’ first play from scrimmage. Hackett said Sunday that the team likely “dodged a bullet” with Jeudy’s injury.
- Cam Fleming remains “day-to-day” with a quadriceps injury. He practiced last week, but did not travel to Tennessee.
- Safety Justin Simmons remains “day-to-day” with a knee sprain.
