Broncos-Titans inactives: Marlon Mack the odd running back out

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In the Broncos’ stable of running backs, one will not gallop Sunday.
Denver chose to deactivate Marlon Mack, who joined the team off the 49ers’ practice squad Oct. 24. Mack was also inactive against the Jaguars on Oct. 30 in London.
The fact that Denver deactivated one running back isn’t a surprise. The Broncos typically have three running backs active and in uniform for each game.
That leaves Melvin Gordon, Latavius Murray and Chase Edmonds as the three who will play. Edmonds is likely to see plenty of work on third downs.
The rest of the Broncos’ inactives were no surprise. TE Andrew Beck, WR KJ Hamler and edge rusher Baron Browning were ruled out Friday due to their injuries. Denver downgraded CB Darius Phillips (illness) and OT Cam Fleming (quadriceps) to out on Saturday. Neither made the trip to Nashville.
Safety Justin Simmons is also inactive. Simmons practiced Thursday and Friday despite a knee sprain. Saturday, word broke that Simmons would miss the game.
Rounding out the inactive list is DL Enyi Uwazurike. The fourth-round pick has played in just two games this season.
