Broncos injury update: Russell Wilson expected to start in London

Maybe there was something to the extra work on the trans-Atlantic flight.
Because despite suffering a partially torn hamstring suffered less than a fortnight earlier, Russell Wilson is expected to start in London.
Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett made the announcement after practice Friday that Wilson would start unless “barring any setbacks” in the 48 hours leading up to kickoff.
In starting Wilson, the Broncos opted not to take advantage of the possibility of 26 days of rest that the bye would have offered.
Had the Broncos held Wilson back this week, that is the time frame between when he succumbed to injury against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Broncos’ first post-bye contest in Tennessee.
When asked whether giving Wilson that long rest was a consideration, Hackett replied, “Yes and no.”

“You talk to Russ and mention that, it’s not great discussion,” he said. “But in the end, if he can go, we want him to be able to play.”
Wilson struggled to move during his three practices last week. That helped spur the decision to rest him against the New York Jets. But per multiple reports, Wilson had better mobility during the periods of practice open to media observation this week.
Perhaps there is something to doing high-knee work in the aisle on the plane. Wilson is getting roasted for that by some of his fellow players, but the result is that he’ll return to action earlier than one would expect with a partially torn hamstring.
Update 3:15 p.m.
Wilson is on the right side of healthy but several Broncos are not. Essang Bassey, Baron Browning, Tyrie Cleveland and Cameron Fleming have all been ruled out against the Jags. So too has Caden Sterns, who is headed to the IR with a hip injury.
