NBA.com’s 21st annual general manager survey of all 30 of the league’s executives was released on Tuesday, with some interesting notes about how brass thinks about the Denver Nuggets.
The league’s GMs picked Milwaukee with 43% of the vote to win the NBA title followed by the Golden State Warriors with 25%, the LA Clippers with 21%, and the Boston Celtics with 11%. Following the Dubs and Clips, the Suns and then Nuggets were voted to be the most likely top four in the west.
Denver would earn home-court advantage in the first round if the season does go as GMs vote that it will. Those same executives believe back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic is the league’s best passer, getting 72% of votes, followed by Luka Doncic and Chris Paul, who each got 10% of votes. They do not think Jokic will win a third straight MVP with the star Serbian getting no votes to take home the award, instead, Doncic and then Giannis Antetokounmpo are the favorites.
Jokic did get picked as the league’s top center over Joel Embiid with 79% of votes vs. 17%. And Jokic trailed just Doncic and Antetokounmpo for the title of league’s best international player.
Jokic also got slotted with the second-most votes for best basketball IQ, received some votes for most wanted player to take a final shot and the second-most likely player to force a coach to adjust their scheme.
NBA GM’s voted Denver’s home-court advantage second-best, gave some votes to the Nuggets as most fun team to watch and some even believe that the Jokic-led squad will have the league’s best offense this coming season.
