Oddsmakers pen Broncos as underdogs in Las Vegas

Sep 26, 2022, 1:33 PM

The Denver Broncos are headed back out on the road after collecting two wins at home to bolster their record to 2-1.

This week the blue and orange face off against the silver and black. The Las Vegas Raiders have yet to win a game under new head coach, former Broncos boss Josh McDaniels. Still, at 0-3, the Raiders have opened as favorites and remain oddsmakers’ pick to win the game by a one-and-a-half point or two-point spread, depending on where you look.

The Raiders took a 24-22 loss in Nashville on Sunday and have lost all three of their contests by one score. Meanwhile, Denver won by one point, 11-10, on Sunday night and have also only been in one-score games thus far. The two will square off Sunday afternoon, and the road team won all four late-window games this past week.

This will be the 124th matchup between the two franchises, which will tie for most between the Broncos and any other team (Denver has played the Chargers 124 as well.) The Broncos are 53-68-2 all-time against the silver and black and have lost six-of-their-last-seven showdowns, including four in a row.

Like Russell Wilson with the Broncos, Las Vegas made a big move this offseason, getting wide receiver Davante Adams; they pair him with tight end Darren Waller for a solid duo. But quarterback Derek Carr is off to a slow start, and Josh Jacobs plus others in the backfield have not posed a significant rushing threat.

But this will be the McDaniels revenge game, with his first time as the boss going up against the Broncos.

Denver currently leads the AFC West, tied with Kansas City, so this is a big game for both the Broncos hopes in the division and a chance to crush a rival’s season before it even really starts.
