Oddsmakers set Broncos as second-biggest favorites of NFL’s Week 2

Sep 14, 2022, 6:00 AM

The Denver Broncos started their season with a loss and come home on a short week for their hometown debut in 2022. Still, the orange and blue are huge favorites to defend home field.

The Broncos opened as 10-point favorites for hosting the Houston Texans in Week 2 of the NFL year.

Denver is coming off of a 17-16 defeat in Seattle, while the Texans hosted and tied the Colts 20-20. The Broncos are thought of as a better team than Houston, with most prognosticators calling for Denver to make the playoffs than the Texans to go above .500.

Funny enough, among the teams who are 10-or-more-point-favorites this coming weekend, all three lost in Week 1, with the Rams and 49ers also the odds on favorites to win their games.

The clash with the Texans will be Russell Wilson’s Denver debut, with many thinking the Broncos will easily bounce back agains a lowly Texans squad, who haven’t won more than four games since 2019. While the Broncos were stifled by two goal line fumbles, two Colts’ fumbles helped Houston to the tie during opening weekend. Davis Mills threw for two touchdowns, each to O.J. Howard.
