Bills LB Von Miller praises Broncos as close, says “we got Russell Wilson”

Sometimes, it’s hard to move on.
Broncos legend (and current Buffalo Bills linebacker) Von Miller was back in town on Monday night and spoke with the media at his “Von’s Vision” charity event. When Miller was asked about the state of the Broncos, it was clear he had a tough time deciding whether or not to refer to the team as “we” or as “them.” After all, Miller is no longer on the team, but obviously still feels a very close connection to the city and the Broncos.
104.3 The Fan and Denver7 Broncos insider Troy Renck captured the response on video:
In so many ways, @VonMiller will always be a member of #Broncos family. He’s pulling for the team’s success #Denver7 pic.twitter.com/GB4bFfr5Wz

“They’ve got a really good team. They’ve been close, we’ve been close in the AFC West for a very long time. And now we got Russell Wilson. Jerry Jeudy’s going to be insane this year. Courtland Sutton’s going to be insane. Yeah, I want those guys to win as many games as possible,” Miller said.
Obviously, Denver GM Paton made the very tough decision to trade Miller to the Los Angeles Rams last season, and it worked out well. Miller won his second Super Bowl, then cashed in with a huge contract from the Bills this offseason. Despite some cryptic posts from Miller about potentially wanting to return to the Broncos, Denver ultimately ended up signing Randy Gregory from the Cowboys for pass-rushing help.
And even though some of the draft picks the Broncos got back for Miller were helpful in acquiring Wilson, our own James Merilatt pointed out that wasn’t exactly the case. He also did a deep dive into the numbers on the Gregory and Miller contracts this offseason, showing maybe the Broncos could have had Miller back.
Did Paton decide it was time for a new era of Broncos football and not pursue Miller intentionally this offseason? Perhaps. Does Miller still consider Denver home and almost like he’s still a Bronco? Absolutely.
