We know when the champs will skate again, NHL releases 22-23 schedule

Jul 6, 2022, 2:04 PM | Updated: 2:15 pm

The Colorado Avalanche only won the Stanley Cup little more than a week ago but the NHL is already readying for next season.

General Manager Joe Sakic is already busy, signing players and looking at others. While the league itself announced the schedule for the coming season on Wednesday.

The Avs will play meaningful hockey again on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m., as they try to defend their Stanley Cup title. That’s when the banner will be raised, as Colorado hosts the Chicago Blackhawks.

It’s the fourth time Colorado will face Chicago on Opening Night since the team relocated to Denver. GThis is the fifth straight year that the Avs will begin their season at home.

Avs veteran d-man Erik Johnson was not ready to find out when he’ll have to stop celebrating.
