The entire hockey world is talking about what happened with Avalanche center Nazem Kadri and Blues goalie Jordan Binnington on Saturday night in Game 3.
While the collision that injured Binnington was simply unlucky and not Kadri’s fault, some Blues fans have taken things way too far. Former hockey player Akim Aliu tweeted he spoke with Kadri and said he’s being sent racist attacks and threats.
Talked to @43_kadri
About his inadvertent collision w Binnington. Naz has been subject to so many racist attacks and threats since last night that police had to be brought in. Racist attacks like this have no place in hockey and should be investigated and reported on.— Akim Aliu (@Dreamer_Aliu78) May 22, 2022
The Avalanche acknowledged this was indeed the case and released a statement about what’s going on.
From the #Avs: “The Avalanche organization is aware of threats made toward Nazem Kadri and is working with local law enforcement to investigate”

It obviously goes without saying, but this is appalling and absurd. It’s a hockey game where a guy made a hockey play and an unfortunate injury happened. Here’s hoping law enforcement can find the idiots behind these threats and press charges.
The Avs and Blues will play Game 4 on Monday night in St. Louis. Colorado currently leads the Round 2 series two games to one.
