On Wednesday, reports surfaced that the Timberwolves were trying to lure Tim Connelly to Minnesota. They wanted the Nuggets president of basketball operations to fill the same role with them, helping them turn a young, talented roster into a championship contender.
Minnesota is reportedly offering a sweet deal, looking to make Connelly one of the highest-paid executives in the league. It’s been rumored that the T-Wolves are willing to double his current salary.
On Saturday, it became apparent that discussions are progressing. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Connelly was being courted in person by Minnesota’s top brass.
Connelly’s discussed the job extensively with minority owners Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez and an in-person meeting with Taylor is next in the process, sources said. Minnesota’s attempting a massive hire of a top league executive that would transform the face of the organization.

An up-and-coming team with new ownership, including a celebrity one in A-Rod, are looking to make a splash with Connelly. Meanwhile, there’s been no reports of any counteroffer from the Nuggets.
It looks more and more likely with each passing day that the architect behind Denver’s current roster will be leaving for Minnesota. Stay tuned.
