Five road trips that every Broncos fan should consider in 2022

May 12, 2022, 6:35 PM

The Broncos schedule is out. Their slate of eight home games, eight road tilts and one neutral-site showdown has been announced. As always, it features plenty of good opportunities to see Denver play, both at Empower Field and other venues.

Nine games away from the Mile High City provides some interesting road trip options for fans. If Broncos Country is looking to travel, there are some great destinations.

Baltimore, Charlotte, Kansas City, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles (x2), Nashville and Seattle are some top-flight spots. A lot of fun can be had in those locales, beyond just the NFL game.

Which destination makes for the best roadie, however? Well, that’s all about what else can be worked into the trip.

Here’s a look at the five best football-filled weekends on the Broncos slate:

***

NO. 1 – WEEK 12

Friday, Nov. 25 – NC State at North Carolina
Saturday, Nov. 26 – South Carolina at Clemson
Sunday, Nov. 27 – Broncos at Panthers

Yes, it’s Thanksgiving weekend. That makes it tricky. But the chance to watch three football games is hard to pass up. It’s rivalry weekend in college football, offering a Friday matchup in Chapel Hill and a Saturday game at Clemson. Cap it off with Denver taking on Christian McCaffrey and company on Sunday.

***

NO. 2 – WEEK 10

Nov. 12 – Missouri at Tennessee / Florida at Vanderbilt
Nov. 13 – Broncos at Titans

First of all, it’s a trip to Nashville. That puts this high on the list all by itself. Throw in the fact that trip to Knoxville to watch the Volunteers on Saturday is less than a three-hour drive straight down I-40 and this is a no-brainer. If you don’t want to drive, do the Gators visiting the Commodores on Saturday instead.

***

NO. 3 – WEEK 8

Oct. 30 – at Jaguars (London)
Nov. 4/5 – Avalanche vs. Blue Jackets (Finland)

Admittedly, this is a game for high rollers. Any trip across the pond isn’t going to be cheap. But from an experience standpoint, it’s tough to beat. The Broncos will take on the Jags at Wembley Stadium. Less than a week later, the Avs are in Finland to play two games against Columbus. Now that’s a road trip!

***

NO. 4 – WEEK 1

Sept. 10 – Portland State at Washington
Sept. 12 – at Seahawks (MNF)

The football might not be great, but the locale is tough to beat. UW plays in one of the most-picturesque settings in all of college football. Husky Stadium is situated on the water, just north of Seattle. Enjoy a day off, watching the NFL slate on Sunday, and then take in Russell Wilson’s return as the Broncos play the Seahawks.

***

NO. 5 – WEEK 4

Oct. 1 – New Mexico at UNLV
Oct. 2 – at Raiders

Vegas, baby! Vegas! That’s what this trip is all about. New Mexico and UNLV is a throwaway. Skip it and sit by the pool instead, as the weather will still be great. The next day, venture over to Allegiant Stadium and watch the Broncos take on their archrival in an early season AFC West showdown.
