Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was arrested on Thursday for a charge of second-degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer. The arrest was first reported by 104.3 The Fan’s Zach Bye.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office announced the charges against Jeudy via social media.

The charge of second-degree criminal tampering without a domestic violence enhancement can carry up to 120 days in jail and/or up to $750 in fines.

The no-hold bond means Jeudy must stay in jail until he sees a judge, who then can issue a protection order. Jeudy will spend Thursday night in jail.

The Broncos have released a statement about the arrest, per 104.3 The Fan insider Mike Klis.

“We are aware of the matter involving Jerry Jeudy and are in the process of gathering more information,” the team said in a news release.

Bye reports that Jeudy’s charge is not for physical violence. But the possible crime does involve a relationship that is intimate, putting it under the under the domestic umbrella.

9News Denver reports that Jeudy admitted to investigators that he locked his child’s mother’s wallet and baby formula in his car. It was a response to taking one of his phones, he said. 9News followed by saying Jeudy’s girlfriend used a neighbor’s phone to call for help.

A spokesperson from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said Jeudy was taken into custody without incident.

Jeudy is entering his third season in the NFL and is a former first-round pick from Alabama.

More to come as we get it.
