WATCH: Avalanche net five goals in insane period to open postseason

May 3, 2022, 8:31 PM

Not one, not two, not three but four. The Colorado hockey club scored an Avalanche of goals to open the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the first round against the Nashville Predators. After just 20 minutes of play, the Avs led 5-0.

Mission 16W got off to a great start, Nathan MacKinnon scored 2:20 in on the power play.

Then 22 seconds later Devon Toews beat the Nashville backup David Rittich to the far-side.

For the third, Andrew Cogliano scored a shorthanded goal via an incredible one-man effort.

The fourth was nuts, Cale Makar showed why he’s one of the league’s best players.

Three minutes later Artturi Lehkonen got in on the fun to score number five. Rittich was pulled for third-stringer Connor Ingram, who spent most of the year in the minor leagues.

Nashville’s regular starting goalie Juuse Saros will be out for game two as well.
