Clayton: Bradley Chubb’s return to the field was a big win for the Broncos

One of the highlights of the Broncos victory over the Los Angeles Chargers was the return of linebacker Bradley Chubb.
Because he missed most of the season prior Sunday, Chubb was under a pitch count. He had 30 plays. That was by design.
Chubb didn’t register a tackle or a sack during that time, but the big thing was that he was on the field. He’ll get more playing time in the Sunday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I thought he did well,” Vic Fangio said this week when reviewing Chubb’s return performance. “I really don’t even count the handful of plays he got against Jacksonville as plays for this year. Basically, he played for the first time in my mind since the 14th game of last year. He was rusty. That’s what he told me. It was great to get him out there, knock off a good portion of the rust. Hopefully, he’ll make great strides this week.”
The Broncos are young at linebacker overall and are getting better. They have used as many as six draft choices in recent game. But Chubb is a talented stud. And he’s back on the field.
