Broncos received good news on Ojemudia injury

Aug 23, 2021, 9:21 PM

The Denver Broncos received some good news on Monday, as cornerback Michael Ojemudia’s leg injury is not as serious as expected.

Per 9News Broncos Insider Mike Klis, Ojemudia has a hamstring injury that will keep him out four to six weeks, but it’s not a knee injury as was first feared.

Ojemudia injured his hamstring in the third quarter of the Broncos victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday in preseason Week 2.

Earlier in camp, head coach Vic Fangio gave Ojemudia a day off to address a leg injury, which he said the cornerback been nursing for about a week.

“His struggles this camp so far have been health related,” Fangio said at the time.

During minicamp in mid-June, defensive coordinator Ed Donatell said Ojemudia has a “really bright future” with in Denver and that he was looking forward to seeing the defensive back grow in year two.

“He’s jumping in there and really competing even though we have a lot of competition,” Donatell said.

Additions to the Denver defensive backfield, said by many to be one of the best units in the NFL heading into the 2021 season, definitely pushed Ojemudia down the depth chart at cornerback.

Just this offseason, the Broncos picked up Kyle Fuller and Ronald Darby in free agency while adding Pat Surtain II with their top pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

In 11 starts for Denver last season, Ojemudia had six passes defensed and four forced fumbled while giving up three touchdowns and recording no interceptions.
