The Denver Broncos are asking fans to hold off on the orange and blue for practice on Wednesday, instead encouraging them to wear purple in support of Alzheimer’s Awareness Day.
Along with showing support by wearing purple, fans can also make donations, which go toward the “Broncos Country” Walk to End Alzheimer’s team. Fans are also encouraged to join the team on Sept. 18 at Denver’s City Park for the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which draws more than 10,000 participants each year and has a goal of raising $1.475 million.
Since 2014, the Broncos and the family of late owner Pat Bowlen — Team Super Bowlen — have raised more than $650,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
On Wednesday, in honor of the third annual Alzheimer’s Awareness Day at Broncos training camp, the team and Empower Retirement will present a check to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Broncos cheerleaders and members of the Alzheimer’s Association Colorado Chapter will be giving away purple rally towels, beads and foam fingers at the Alzheimer’s Association tent at practice.
