Clayton: The Broncos are close to seeing their dynamic duo together

Aug 17, 2021, 5:30 PM

Wednesday should be a good day at Broncos training camp.

Von Miller will be back on the practice field. His baby was born Monday night.

Bradley Chubb will be out there and he’s feeling great. The Miller-Chubb duo will finally get a chance to put pressure on offenses.

Chubb missed 12 games in 2019 after tearing his ACL. Miller missed all of last season with a freak ankle injury. That’s two years in which one of the best pass-rushing outside linebackers have barely played together.

Vic Fangio isn’t saying if Chubb or Miller will play the both in Saturday’s preseason game in Seattle against the Seahawks. The key is keeping them healthy and unleashing them against the NFL in September.

The offseason program started with Chubb being banged up and missing time on the practice field. On Tuesday, Chubb says he’s close to 100 percent.

“(I’m) about 98 percent,” Chubb said. “The other two percent is probably going to come in the next couple of weeks in the preseason games and just getting into the flow of football. I feel good. My body feels good. I’m doing everything to stay on top of it.”

Chubb is hoping he gets a chance to play some Saturday. In practice, he’s been going against left tackle Garett Bolles. The two got into a on the field spat earlier in training camp. Still, he considers himself like a little brother to Bolles, but they might get into it again at some point.

“I’m a little brother, too,” Chubb said. “That was my main thing – getting under my big brother’s skin, no matter what I did. The brotherhood and that relationship we have – some days we’re going to be on, some days we’re going to be off. At the end of the day, we’re still brothers and we’re still fighting for the same goal and that’s to win a Super Bowl.”

Seeing both linebackers out there should be fun.
