Clayton: Disgruntled QBs are clamoring to come to the Broncos

After six years of struggling to find the right starting quarterback, now it seems like more and more quarterbacks want to be Bronco.
We all know Aaron Rodgers is staying away from Green Bay because of Packers management. His preference is to come to Denver.
His finance lives in Boulder. Pro Football Focus says the Broncos have the sixth-best pass-catching group in the NFL. It also helps that he wouldn’t mind working for an organization run by a Hall of Fame quarterback, John Elway.
On Wednesday, Broncos safety Kareem Jackson said Deshaun Watson also wants to be a Bronco. They were teammates with the Texans.
Watson wants out of Houston. Jackson said the two have talked several times over the pass few weeks, and Watson made it clear that he wants to be in Denver.
The big question is how the Broncos organization would feel about Watson’s off-the-field problems. He has 22 lawsuits for sexual issues facing him. Not much is going to happen in the cases this year. He’s not going to be deposed until Feb. 22, 2022. It’s also not out of the question the NFL could suspend him for as many as six games.
Regardless, his wish is now known.
The timing is interesting for Jackson’s comments. The Texans cancelled next week’s mandatory minicamp so they are shut down until training camp. Watson wasn’t going to attend, but the cancellation means he’s not going to fined the $93,000 for not being there.
All of this comes with another interesting timing element. The Broncos named Peyton Manning to be in the Broncos Ring of Fame on Wednesday. It’s a well-deserved honor.
In the meantime, Jordan Love has been up-and-down filling for Rodgers. He struggled bad early in the week, but he did much better on Wednesday, even though he barely completed 50 percent of his passes. The Packers need Rodgers.
It was also funny Melvin Gordon predicted Rodgers will stay in Green Bay. We’ll see. He’s just one of the QBs interested in Denver.
