Broncos find their replacement for Ja’Wuan James, ink a right tackle

May 12, 2021, 5:18 PM | Updated: 5:21 pm

The Broncos are wasting little time when it comes to replacing Ja’Wuan James. Barely a week removed from their starting right tackle being lost for the season with a torn Achilles, Denver has added two possible replacements.

First, the team signed Ryan Pope. The 24-year-old lineman spent time with the Jaguars in recent years and is expected to provide depth at the position.

Today, however, the Broncos inked someone who should enter training camp as the starter.

During his nine years in the NFL, four with the Cardinals and five with the Bears, Massie has started 110 games at right tackle. He’ll turn 32 in August, providing the Broncos with a reliable veteran presence in place of James.

According to Ian Rapoport, Denver signed Bobby Massie to a one-year, $4-million deal.
