NFL.com mock draft has Broncos passing on two QBs

The latest mock draft from NFL.com analyst Charley Casserly has the Denver Broncos not only passing on one quarterback, but two.
With the possibility of selecting either Trey Lance or Justin Fields with the No. 9 pick, according to Casserly, the Broncos opt to instead upgrade a position of need — drafting inside linebacker Micah Parsons out of Penn State.
“The Broncos’ cornerback need was filled in free agency, so they add the best defensive player on my draft board to Vic Fangio’s unit,” Casserly writes.
The move would be in agreement with what former Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib would do, should Denver remain at No. 9.
In speaking with Steve Atwater in this week’s edition of “Broncos Weekend,” Talib said adding Parsons would provide Denver a playmaker at every level of the defense.
“I say if they stay at No. 9, you complete that defense. You just go Parsons right in the middle. I’d add that linebacker right there to that defense,” Talib said.
However, DenverFan.com’s James Merilatt wrote this week that if a quarterback — let alone two quarterbacks — fall to Denver at No. 9, the risk would be “simply too great” for general manager George Paton not to pick one.
“Even if Parsons, (Patrick) Surtain II or (Caleb) Farley developed into a future Ring of Fame inductee, it’d still be a colossal error if Fields or Lance becomes a franchise QB,” Merilatt writes.
