Nuggets and Austin Rivers in “serious talks” on a deal

Apr 14, 2021, 4:27 PM

With Jamal Murray out for the foreseeable future, the Denver Nuggets appear to be in the market for guard Austin Rivers.

Per a report from NBA Insider Shams Charania, Rivers and the Nuggets are in “serious talks toward a deal.”

On March 25, Rivers was acquired Oklahoma City Thunder from the New York Knicks in a three-team trade and then waived three days later.

Since Rivers was not on an NBA roster beyond April 9, reports the Denver Post’s Mike Singer, he is eligible to play in the postseason for the Nuggets.

In 21 games for the Knicks this season, Rivers averaged 7.3 points, 2.0 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 21.0 minutes per game.

During his nine-year NBA career, Rivers has averaged 24.4 minutes a night, compiling 9.1 points, 2.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game.
