The title aspirations for the Denver Nuggets took a major blow Tuesday, as the team confirmed guard Jamal Murray tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in Monday’s matchup the Golden State Warriors.
Murray suffered the noncontact injury while driving to the basket in the waning minutes of the 116-107 loss. As he tried to split two Warriors defenders, Murray’s left leg buckled, and he collapsed to the floor in pain.
Hampered by injuries this season, Murray, 24, has averaged 21.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
Murray, however, has missed just six games this season for Denver, wherein the Nuggets went 3-3 in his absence.
