Stephen was cut by the Vikings to clear $3.75 million off Minnesota’s salary cap last month.
This move reunites Stephen and Broncos general manager George Paton. Stephen played six seasons with the Vikings during Paton’s time as the assistant general manager.
Stephen started 31 games in Minnesota over the last two seasons, totaling 55 tackles, five quarterback hits, three pass breakups and 1.5 sacks.
Last season Stephen played 62 percent of the Vikings’ defensive snaps, the most of any defensive lineman on the Vikings’ roster, and also played 20 percent of Minnesota’s special teams snaps, per PFF.
