UPDATE: The Colorado Rockies announced on March 09 that the state has approved Coors Field for a 42.6% capacity variance, now allowing 21,363 fans at Coors Field beginning Opening Day on April 1.

This is an increase to the previous approval of 12,500 fans.

In a statement, the Rockies said to create a safe and healthy experience for fans, players and staff, the Rockies have implemented all required Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE) and Major League Baseball (MLB) policies and guidelines.

“We couldn’t be happier to be inviting Rockies fans back into Coors Field,” said Rockies COO Greg Feasel. “It took a lot of hard work from a lot of people, and we thank the State of Colorado, the City and County of Denver, and their health officials, along with MLB for partnering with us to ensure that our thorough and detailed plan complies with all health and safety measures.”

The Rockies will begin selling tickets to April home games on March 11, with Rockies Plan Holders receiving first opportunity to secure tickets for the first homestand. If inventory allows, ticket on-sale dates for the general public will be determined and announced at a later date.

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic struck last year, fans will be allowed to attend Colorado Rockies games in person at Coors Field.

Per Denver Post Rockies reporter Patrick Saunders, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) approved a variance, “pending a few adjustments,” that would allow fans in the stands at 20th and Blake this upcoming season.

Rockies owner Dick Monfort spoke with 9News Insider Mike Klis on Thursday, saying, “We expect to have fans this year, but not sure how many.”

Fans were not allowed to attend any of the team’s 30 home games last season.

Colorado is slated host the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in their home opener on April 1.
