Broncos cornerback A.J. Bouye suspended six games for PED violation

Dec 9, 2020, 11:01 AM | Updated: 11:16 am

Broncos cornerback A.J. Bouye’s season is finished after the NFL suspended him for six games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. He will miss the final four Broncos games, and will miss the first two games of the 2021 season, too.

Bouye’s suspension means the Denver Broncos (4-8) have lost their top three cornerbacks in a week. Bryce Callahan went on IR with a foot injury and rookie Essang Bassey sustained a season-ending knee injury on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Bouye came to Denver in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars back in March. In 100 career games, Bouye has posted 14 interceptions, 72 passes defensed and 338 combined tackles.

Mike Klis of KUSA reports that Bouye’s suspension is connected to the six-game suspensions that were handed down to Texans wide receiver Will Fuller and cornerback Bradley Roby last week. Fuller said he was suspended for taking a medication that he didn’t realize was on the NFL’s list of banned substances.

STATEMENT BY AN NFL SPOKESPERSON:

A.J. Bouye of the Denver Broncos has been suspended without pay for the next six games of the regular season or postseason for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances. He will be able to participate in offseason and preseason practices and games.
