Vegas thinks the Avs have a good chance to win the Cup next season

Jun 13, 2019, 9:24 AM

Hours after the Blues knocked off the Bruins in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, the sportsbooks in Las Vegas rolled out the odds to win the championship in 2019-20. And the wise guys had good news for Avalanche fans.

At the moment, before the NHL Draft or free agency, Colorado is tied with Boston and Toronto with the third-best odds to win the Cup. Only Tampa Bay and Vegas are projected to have a better chance to win a title next season.

This may come as bit of surprise given that the Avs finished eighth in the Western Conference in 2018-19, but the bookmakers clearly were influenced by Colorado’s strong finish to the regular season and impressive playoff run. As a result, they’re seen as more likely winner in 2020 than the current Cup holders, St. Louis.

The message has been sent to Joe Sakic and Company. The Avalanche are a championship-caliber team, so it’s time to go all in and make sure they have the pieces needed to get over the hump.
