Broncos expected to part ways with Brandon Marshall

Feb 15, 2019, 9:25 AM

According to multiple reports, the Denver Broncos are expected to part ways with middle linebacker Brandon Marshall. The seven-year veteran played in two Super Bowls with the Broncos, including as a starter in their Super Bowl 50 victory.

“Brandon Marshall played really well for the Denver Broncos,” according to 104.3 The Fan’s Mark Schlereth. “He’s a great guy and a really good player. Obviously last year, injury riddled season,” Schlereth said. “I understand where they’re going, it makes sense. I think it’s a position where they feel like they can upgrade. I just don’t think it’s a position anymore that commands a ton of salary, and there’s some other good ones on the market right now that I think you may see the Broncos go after.”

104.3 The Fan’s Broncos Insider from Denver7, Troy Renck, spoke with Marshall before joining Schlereth and Evans. “They will not exercise the option and will become a free agent on March 13th,” Renck said. “He [Marshall] saw this coming. This is not a surprise”.
With Marshall’s departure, Todd Davis and Josey Jewell remain at the middle linebacker position. According to Renck, the Broncos could pursue upcoming free agent C.J. Mosley, a four-time Pro Bowler with the Baltimore Ravens.
