Big Al: ‘Disappointed’ Broncos still undecided on QB vs. Redskins

For Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph, it’s still unclear if Brock Osweiler or Paxton Lynch will be under center Sunday against the Washington Redskins, saying on Monday a decision had not been made.
But for “The Drive’s” Alfred Williams, the decision should be simple: Play the quarterback who has “earned the right to play.”
“I don’t even know what’s to talk about. I really don’t. I’m almost disappointed that we are this point where we’re having a conversation right now about what should happen at quarterback for the upcoming games,” Williams said on Friday, “because I do believe in rewarding those who have done well.”
In a just scenario, Williams said he’d like to see Osweiler — who led the Broncos in a come-from-behind victory against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday — take the reins for the remainder of the season.
And playing Lynch just to see what the young gunslinger can show “sends the message to your team that we’re not trying to win this game,” Williams said.
“If you want to call it good and just say, alright, we’re just going to play all the young guys, say that,” Williams said. “Let’s get away from the narrative that we just had a couple of days ago when the head coach said that he wants to build a culture of winning.
“Either you want to or you don’t.”
Last week, Joseph called the narrative that the Broncos should lose its remaining games to get a higher draft pick “nonsense” and said the team can still “evaluate players and still win football games.”
“Winning is a habit. To win these last three games, that’s huge for our team moving forward,” Joseph said.
Brandon Stokley, co-host of “Stokley & Zach,” had a different take than Williams on Friday, saying that though Lynch might not be the future but Osweiler definitely isn’t.
“What are we going to see with Brock? We know what we have with Brock. He played well (Thursday). That’s great. He’s not our future,” Stokley said. “Paxton Lynch, maybe he is. Probably not, but maybe he is. Put him in the game.
“It’s time for him to play. I want to see him play these last two games.”
