Inside Super Bowl 51 with Football Insider Cecil Lammey — Day 4

Author’s note: This is the first Super Bowl I will be covering from start to finish, and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s in store during the week. In this daily journal, I will revisit some of the highlights of the day and take you behind the scenes of Super Bowl 51.

The Atlanta Falcons holds its media availability at 8 a.m., so I jumped on the bus at 7:15 a.m. to get to its headquarters.

As the week has gone on, the Falcons seem to be getting more and more comfortable with the process. In fact, quarterback Matt Ryan said that he hasn’t been nervous this week and he doesn’t get nervous or anxious before any game either.

After the Falcons were done it was back on the bus to get back to the convention center.

There were two big press conferences on Thursday, and they were different than anything I had ever experienced.

First up, country artist Luke Bryan took the stage to talk about what it meant to him to sing the national anthem.

Then the big show happened. The stage was changed for the big hit of the day, as Lady Gaga, pop superstar, talked about her upcoming halftime show for Super Bowl 51.

These press conferences were different because of the entertainment media. They are much different from the sports media, and the entire vibe was something you don’t get covering football.

With minutes to spare, I was able to get back to radio row before hosting a three-hour show on The Fan with Brandon Stokley.

First, we talked to Broncos wide receiver — and Stokley’s buddy — Demaryius Thomas.

When I asked Thomas about Paxton Lynch he said, “Paxton is the real deal.” Thomas also revealed that he’s excited about getting Mike McCoy back to coordinate the offense.

You can listen to the interview here on Stokley’s podcast page.
