The Denver Broncos took another hit to its defense Friday, as defensive lineman Billy Winn reportedly suffered a torn ACL in the team’s preseason opener against the Chicago Bears.
Per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, an MRI showed what the Broncos expected, that Winn tore the ligament in his right knee during the first quarter of Thursday night’s game.

After the game, Winn was seen leaving the Soldier Field locker room on crutches with a brace on the knee.
Winn’s injury is a blow to an already hampered Broncos front seven, which has seen linebackers Shane Ray (wrist) and Shaquil Barrett (hip) and defensive lineman Kyle Peko (foot) go out already during this offseason.
After joining the Broncos as an unrestricted free agent early in last season’s training camp, Winn played in all 16 games for Denver last season, starting two, and grabbed 8 tackles and a fumble recovery.
