Report: Broncos DL Kyle Peko to undergo surgery for broken foot

Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said defensive lineman Kyle Peko was being evaluated for a foot injury after limping off the practice field Tuesday, and the prognosis is bleak.
According to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis, Peko will undergo surgery on Wednesday to fix a broken bone in his right foot.

Peko, who signed with the Broncos as a college free agent out of Oregon State last offseason, is the younger cousin Domata Peko, who signed with Denver this offseason after 11 seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.
In May, the elder Peko said Kyle being on the Broncos roster played a role in leading the veteran run-stuffer to Denver.
“It’s really cool having my little cousin here, Kyle. It’s been a blessing. That really helped out, especially making my decision in free agency,” Domata Peko said. “Having someone here that’s my family, someone that I’m familiar with, it’s been great. We’re sharpening each other up every day, trying to improve each other, challenge and compete with each other. It’s been a blessing.”
In his rookie season, Kyle Peko played in just one game, Week 17 at home against the Oakland Raiders, tallying two solo tackles.
The 23-year-old defender took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to apparently lament the injury he sustained earlier in the day.

According to Klis, Peko will likely be back during the early stages of training camp.
